Romantic gay movies with happy ending

With the Trump administration repealing legislation that supports LGBTQ+ people in the US, there has been a major rallying cry amongst queer folk to have their voices heard and this sentiment has echoed worldwide. Now I only occasionally walk into a darkened theatre and hold my breath in ritual prayer, begging that something terrible won't happen to those adorable queer people on screen. But for now, let's focus on quality, which is equally as important as quantity.ĭone, it seems, are the days of torturous plots and inevitable deaths as we slowly move away from the tragical and tumultuous ( Blue is the Warmest Colour) and downright upsetting ( Boys Don't Cry) to the considered and triumphant ( Moonlight and Love, Simon). It would be a stretch to say that queer cinema has reached its pinnacle, and as the stats from GLAAD's film report suggests, in some ways progress has turned to regression (there being a distinct drop in LGBTQ+ representation). Hollywood also seems to have got the memo as the queer community are finally getting their happy endings on screen. It's evidence that the promises were true – it does get better. Parade and protest combined, global solidarity for the LGBTQ+ community reaches new heights. The summer of 2018 (aka #20gayteen) fast approaches and as it does, so begin celebrations of Pride, worldwide.
